About

Hello, my name is Daniel Ordoñez and I am an artist and designer who was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I found my calling to become a Graphic Designer during my time at OTIS college of art and design, where I graduated with my BFA in Communication Arts with an emphasis in graphic design. Before then, I had been studying fine art where I learned the significance of composition, color and patience. These lessons are the foundation of my identity as an artist, aiding me through adversity while continuing to learn more about art and its many forms. Combining the lessons of my previous studies at The Los Angeles County High School of the Arts with those learned at OTIS, I hope to fulfill my social responsibility as a graphic designer. To do this I will be sure that personal research, social awareness and respect are communicated through the use of typography and imagery within my works.

Design Philosophy

The goals of a designer are to assist clients by serving as an architect, helping others bring their visual identities to fruition through discussions, visual explorations and revision. It is important to understand what the client represents and present those ideas visually through the use of typography, imagery and color theory. Any artistic interpretation, with direction from the client, serves as a bridge to fill the gap between client and consumers. The most important skill as a designer is being empathic, to be able to feel the passion and excitement others share with us helps design pieces that garner those same emotions in others. With this said, a sense of authenticity is very valuable, whether it is the authenticity of a feeling in the piece or doing the research to understand what the target audience would feel.
