Heartbeat

This project revolves around the development of visual identities and how they can be applied. In this case, the organization named “Heartbeat”, is a fabricated one based on real charities that helps adolescents in lower income communities access musical lessons and instruments. The idea of Heartbeat is to provide guidance and community events, helping adolescents find their passion and voice. To visually communicate the idea of community as well as music performance, I wanted to break down music instruments into two fundamental shapes: circles and rectangles. Showing that not every shape is uniform, but they are similar with varying differences that can come together to create something new; much like the individual people that make up the community Heartbreak serves. Incorporating softer colors such as beige, red and blue; communicates to onlookers that Heartbeat is a place of both play and serenity. With all components in place and together in proximity, something new and identifiable is created. Whether it be visually or a feeling one gets when looking at the visual identity of Heartbeat, the identity evokes a sense of a safe space, one that music can be made and enjoyed in, together.
